Handling a catamaran yacht can be very difficult, even for someone that has sailed smaller boats or power boats for most of their life. There are professional captains available that know the local spots and can handle any difficulty on the boat.

The yacht was named after bird that nests in the high tundra of the Rocky Mountains, near where Ron and Raney call home. A ptarmigan belongs to the grouse family, scientifically classified under the genus Lagopus. These birds are well-adapted to cold, alpine, and Arctic environments and and are known for their remarkable seasonal camouflage. In winter, their feathers turn white to blend in with snow, while in summer, they molt into brown or gray plumage to match the rocky or tundra landscapes.
